Theme Wednesday: Knock Off the Knock Off

Hello!

Today's Theme Wednesday is the first in our look at jackets. I did something super quick and easy for this post.

I kept seeing this post floating around on pinterest:

Now, Maize was inspired by Anthropology, but I was inspired by Maize! I had an Old Navy jacket I thrifted a few years ago lying around, so I took inspiration from her picture above and I did one of my own:

Dress: Handmade/Me, Boots: Dr Marten, Jacket: DIY/Me, Leggings: Target

I'm still not a huge fan of the jacket, but this is a vast improvement. Still, I think I'll definitely get more wear out of it now that I've done something to it! Also, it has epic pockets. :-) You know, maybe I'll like it better in the spring. It looks very springy to me.

I'm keeping this short today- I was sent home sick from work and I can't seem to get out of the fog that I'm stuck in. So sleepy for a weird reason? Need rest- I don't want to get sick(er)! See you on Friday, my peeps.

  1. OMG! It's a very John Watson jacket, only instead of a leather patch, it's a lace one. ;) I think you should definitely wear it more, it's got that good tough/sweet mix to it.

Sleep lots! Make sure you're getting enough protein and vitamins in your diet. I've been trying to take naps as I need them and find myself more energized if I can crash out between night classes and day classes.

  2. Nicely done. The embellishment definitely adds a feminine touch to the otherwise very military style jacket (not that there's anything wrong with military style jackets...). It makes is pop/more interesting for sure!

(I wish it would warm up here. I can't wear anything cute or I'll freeze to death on my walk/bus commute to and from work. :-( )

  3. Get well soon Meg! I kind of love the flower applique on a military jacket - its an extreme juxtaposition in some ways but it works so well :) You DIY rockstar!

  4. It's cool. I have a bat-shaped piece of lace - I have been wondering what to do with it and now I know :)

  6. feel better! Dont get sick! I love that you made your own dress! I want to learn to sew so badly on a machine! I can do it by hand but not on those crazy things. The jacket was prolly really nice before but now its so modern and spring ready!
