This week I'm inspired by details!
Lately I've realized that my wardrobe is a little plain, right? Or at least, some of it is. The parts that I make aren't plain at all, but the other parts need some DIY inspiration. This week I've decided to show you some cute little things I've stumbled on thanks to Pinterest.
I love this hair bow. It's very raggedy-chic and super adorable. I would wear this all the time if I had one!
Having just found a passionate love of sewing doilies to my jackets, I was super inspired by this pic floating around on pinterest. Since my posts are often pre-written (and are definitely always pre-photographed), my Theme Wednesday went up before I could post this inspiration post. So you're getting this picture AGAIN! How funny, right?
And as a side note, I will readily admit to my posts being pre-photographed. I'm never ever wearing the outfit in the photos on the day you are seeing it. Because I tried blogging that way and I started to fear for my sanity. These are real looks, though, that I do wear to work and out on the town.
I love this gorgeous shawl. I love fabric roses, but I'm always afraid to put them on things because I wouldn't want them coming apart in the wash. How gorgeous is this, though? I'm going to need to make something like it so I can be warm but feel beautiful and romantic. Maybe one that will match my new coat that I'm showing you tomorrow.
Aprons count as details, right? I adore this whole look, from the bloomers to the smock dress to the apron. I've considered making an apron to wear at work because I often lack pockets over my dresses. This gives me definite ideas.
The shoulders on this shirt are awesome. I'm definitely inspired by this - I've been trying to think of ways I could do something similar with a large men's faux-suede button up I acquired a few years ago. If I do figure something out, I'll be sure to post pictures!
I love the applique on this jacket and the awesome trimmed collar, but if you look closely I'm pretty sure the details are taken from old jeans.
Patched jeans and a cute sweater? I'm all over it! I am working on some patched jeans right now because they used to be all I wore and I miss the look so much! Here's a fun fact for you- one of the names I'd rolled around in my mind for the blog was The Patchwork Pixie, but since I'd stopped patching things up, I decided Meg's Ragged Edge was much better and much more meaningful.
Who doesn't need a bustle on their tee shirt? (Coming from a girl who has a real life bustle that she wears around...)
I guess this does fit into the theme of the week because tomorrow's jacket is a subtle look that relies on one small detail to make it shine. It's very subtle. VERY VERY SUBTLE. But it looks beautiful (to me). Stay tuned! I hope you're having a fabulous Tuesday!
You definitely have some wonderful ideas. Where do you find these things. I don't think I'm looking in the right places.
ReplyDeleteYou have a real life bustle?! Wow! You're my hero.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find a cute apron for YEARS. Big ones are plain and cute ones are too small. My search continues.
I like reading your thoughts on things. It's like sitting in your head and hearing your mind work. I like the way you think!
I never knew I needed a t-shirt with a bustle until now. Now I REALLY need one! :)
ReplyDeleteWow a bustle on a t-shirt - that is a cool idea! I'd have never thought to try that!
ReplyDeleteBooyeah! on the bustle. I hope you rock yours always!
ReplyDeleteThose layered linen looks get me every time. I so want some of those pieces in my wardrobe!
Excited for the reveal on Wednesday!
I really love that second to last look. It's too twee for me, but I do wish I could pull things like that off.
ReplyDeleteSeriously how do you always manage to find so much cool stuff? I love that first hairclip, I can totally see you wearing something like that:)
