So for the next few Theme Wednesdays I'm going to be talking about JACKETS. At my work, the building gets pretty cold even with the heat on, so I've been wearing my same denim jacket every day. It's my new trademark piece (like Styles and his sunglasses/nasty tee shirts or Andie and the color pink --- movie references, y'all). And I love it. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.
But I won't lie- I've been feeling the need to make some more jackets. I mean, a girl needs back ups for when the every day one fails, right? ;-) Or just options. I need options. So to kick off this outerwear fest, I've rounded up a few awesome jackets for you to take a peek at. Can't wait to show you what I come up with in the next few weeks! :-)
So for this Inspiration Tuesday, I'm showing you some of the jackets that inspire me when I'm thinking about sewing.
I think one of the first things I fell in love with about MCR is their attention to detail and costuming. This jacket is that Gerard is wearing is just has so many awesome details relating to the Danger Days world and I think that is so rad. Also, how awesome is this jacket in general?
Look at this awesome coat from unefeecitrouille.com. I'm linking to the pin instead of the site because pinterest is warning me about spam, but anyway, I love this coat. This looks so chic and warm and cozy and dramatic- ugh. Lurve it!
I love this dress and jacket pattern from Simplicity! It's so chic. I love that purple version of the dress and the black and blue striped jacket.
You know I love me a good (or large. Or obnoxious) applique, so of course I think this beautiful olive green trimmed jacket is just lovely. Might need to recreate that one.
I came across this lovely etsy shop thanks to pinterest and I'm in love with this jacket! I'm sure eventually one of mine will look like that just because I'll have to keep patching them to keep them together. I love all the trims and appliques- it's such a sweet look.
I first fell in love with MCR during The Black Parade tour and I think it was 80% their music and 20% these awesome band jackets they were wearing! I really would love to make something inspired by these jackets. I mean, how smart do those stripes look?!
Is this a sweater? Is this a jacket? I don't know or care because it's awesome. I would wear this all the time. I love the sheer trim on this.
I love this embroidered look, too. I think it would be pretty cool to do one that was painted!
Do you guys have any jackets that are your favorites? :-) Maybe we should do a jacket themed link up party! See you tomorrow for more jacket lovin'.
Gotta say I like the MCR style (and music) very much :)

Awesome jackets! I can totally see you rocking the etsy one.
ReplyDeleteI have a number of jackets, at least 6-7. My favorites are my two suede ones, but they all make my style work in one way or another. Jackets are finishing pieces, I only learned that in the past year!
Great subject. I learned to love jackets when I started riding motorcycles and went looking for ones. There's such variety! And when you include DIY and used jackets, the selection gets even wider. I like my jackets with some edge to them.
ReplyDeleteSwoon! Jackets were my first clothing (and then sewing) weakness. I was not girly growing up, never really into shoes (except now I love me some boots), hated wearing dresses, etc. etc. But jackets... Oh how I have coveted me some jackets (and coats) in my time. Of course, my first major sewing projects were jackets/coats, and I sort of got sucked in from there. I'm not giving you a count (it would be embarrassing/make me seem frivolous and materialistic, even though in my opinion, it's still not enough).
ReplyDeleteI like your taste! (And if I look at that purple/burgundy velvet Victorian-esque coat one more time... plotting a reproduction will overtake my brain. Which is unnecessary, seeing as how I ALREADY have made a purple/burgundy velvet coat. But it's not full length, double-breasted and side-fastening! drool!)
Oh I love this post - my favourite is the one with the big applique on the back. As you know its still summer here, but I could do with a new "light" jacket. I only have a blazer which doesn't really work for all occasions.
