Personal Style: Hanging with My Mom

Dress: Handmade/Me, Docs: DIY/Me, Jacket: DOTS
Chirp was sitting on my neighbors porch chirping at me, so I looked over at her.

This is the outfit I wore when I went to see my mom on Thursday last week. I was really excited because she hadn't seen my dresses yet (well, not since the first one) and I had just got a new jacket from DOTS. This was a practical purchase- sometimes at work the heat just doesn't seem warm enough so I bought this denim jacket to wear as a "sweater". So far it's worked like a charm! Only problem is I bought it so I could DIY it up with some doilies and I like it so much as it is I don't want to add anything to it. Might be buying another one if I can find any.

I've been cheating on my second hand pledge so bad. It's bad. But I don't feel bad because I didn't buy any non-thrifted clothes at all last year (except my AE jeans), so maybe I'll start again after the holiday is over. I'll do it from Christmas to Christmas or something like that, right?

This AWESOME bracelet was kind of thrift-gifted. A friend of mine found it in a lost and found- it had been there for two weeks, so they gave it to me since they knew no one was coming for it. It's got a mini scorpion in it!

A close up of my bracelets that I wear all the time. These are both from the Buffalo Exchange. I love the cuff- that's my favorite bracelet I own.

Cameo from Meg's Ragged Edge shop, which I really need to get started up again. This tiny girl was one of my favorites.

Mom and my brother are a little camera shy so I don't have any pictures of them from that day, but I do have pictures of my cup from Red Robin. That's almost as good, right?

Speaking of which, why in the name of goodness do we need these at our tables in restaurants? You could order appetizers, drinks and for an additional buck play games. That seems wrong. With everyone already being plugged into a phone or device these days, and TVs being standard in bars and restaurants, we don't need even more screens to be glued to. What ever happened to spending time with the people you went out with?

I had a blast when I saw my mom and I can't wait to see the whole family again soon. In the mean time, I'm baking cookies, painting and cleaning the house while the boyfriend is at work. And when he gets home we're chilling out and eating food. See you after the holiday!

  8. Don't think of it as cheating- the idea is to support the positive choices you make- not to guilt you about the other ones. So feel good and celebrate your style!

Love the dress- the print the color- you look great! And I think that cameo is something I need to add to my wishlist. Lemme know when your shop is back up and running.

Wishing you the best 2013, Megs! xo-Bella Q the Citizen Rosebud
