Theme Wednesdays: My Mother

(Since it's been a while, if you'd like to know the rules again, check it out by clicking here.)

It's back! That's right. One of my goals this year is to do more Theme Wednesday posts. The problem is, I kind of ran out of themes that didn't involve My Chemical Romance. Then last week, as I was looking at some fabric, it hit me! I could definitely do a ton of themes inspired by my family. So here is the first one- My mom!

My mom is a huge influence on this outfit. No, unfortunately I don't have pictures I can share with you of my mother (because she'd shoot me) but I can promise, when I saw this green floral fabric it reminded me of her. So I decided to use it to make a Lisette shirt.

Giant Apple I bought from Phantastic Phinds
Skeleton Key Festival Necklace
Sorry, the aliens abducted my brain for a second.
I bite my lip a lot.

Docs: DIYed, Jeggings: American Eagle, Cardi: Thrifted, Shirt: Handmade

My mom would never wear combat boots or jeggings, or a pink sweater, but the shirt is definitely something that makes me think of her. She WOULD have wooden fruits in her home but she would NOT have them painted with neon flowers. She definitely would like this necklace. PS: This fabric is THRIFTED! What a score, right?

I'm still continuing with the family theme- I have a tribute to my great grandmother planned and two outfits inspired by my little brothers, but next week we're taking a break from family to have some last minute Halloween fun! I hope that you've enjoyed this theme and I can't wait to share the next two with you. :-)

Until Next Time...

  1. I love this post. Not only are the pictures entertaining but the story behind them has meaning. I did a post a while back asking people about their mothers and the heartfelt responses impressed me. Yours does, too.

Meghan, you have quickly become my favorite blogger. I like your personality, your approach to blogging, your honesty and your style. You knock it out of the park!

  2. I think it's great that you can incorporate your Mom into your clothes, but still retain yourself. My mom and I are quite different, but I love her jewelry. I love your details, the ring, the pumpkin, the boots! Can't wait to see how you work with your family theme.

  5. Well aren't you a cute lil bad ass in your boots! I love that the shirt reminds you of your Mom, that would be a great challenge for me but I like yours because it's so subtle. Look at me just bounced on over here~ I need to go check out your interview with Terri :)

  6. Shybiker- awww blushing now. :-)

Megan Mae- I'm really looking forward to the dress I'm making for my great grandmother post. It's from fabric she left me when she died. She made all her clothes just like me. :-)

Terri- Thank you!! If I can pry her out of her shell, I'll try to post her on here. But even without Mom showing up on the blog she is a huge inspiration to me. She owns her own business and makes a living being a primitive crafts artist.

Trees- Thank you! I'm loving this Lisette pattern! The top is a nice alternative to tee shirts. I'm actually a little sick of tee shirts right now!

Krista! It's nice to meet you! I really love your comment. My boots make me feel like a bad ass. I like your pink hair.
