So in honor of my favorite day of the year next to Thanksgiving (coughHALLOWEENcough), I came up with two last minute costume-y posts for you. The idea behind these two posts was to use what I had in my house to make a last minute Halloween costume.
This first one didn't work so well.
The Lisette pattern I used for this dress was not really cut out to be a babydoll style dress. And the skirt I reconstructed into the skirt portion of this dress was pretty much the same width as the top which meant it didn't gather at all. I hate the shape of this dress. Luckily, I can still take it apart and make something great out of it. Sometime in the future. When I don't hate looking at it.
Until then, here is my "last minute mermaid" costume. Stay tuned for next week's theme.

Mermaids!!! They are the icon of my people. Young TG boys often idolize mermaids and I was among them. Plus, every year I go to the famed Mermaid Parade in Coney Island.

ReplyDeleteI really love the fabric of this dress - in fact I think that this dress looks fab on you! But I do understand how it feels when you make something and you don't LOVE it. I love your hair and all that cute make-up. We ARE so doing a photo shoot when I visit - it's going to be super rad (if we don't count October or May its only 6 months away!)

Trees- Thanks! I do select the photos so that they are shown in the most flattering way, though. This dress is like a sack. We are definitely doing a photo shoot when you come! And maybe we can even find a cool cemetary or park to do it in!
