Lately, as I was saying to Trees (I think), I've actually gotten sick of tee shirts. I can't really sew them like I used to because of the serger problems, and even so I have to use at least two XL tee shirts to cut into something that will fit me. With these Lisette shirts, I just need fabric and a short while later I have a shirt that looks more professional and pretty awesome!

I have been generously gifted another Leibster award by Shannon at Gingham and Lace! Terri and Lily had already passed along this award to me a few weeks ago, but I was really touched that Shannon thought of me so I'm going to play again.
The rules are you must post 11 things about you, answer the 11 questions that the person who gave you the award asked and then ask 11 questions of your own and tag people to answer! Like before, I'm not tagging anyone specifically, but if you choose to answer my questions please please please leave a comment so I can see your answers!
Shannon Asked Me:
1.
What is your favorite quote? I have too many, but I guess the only quote I've ever considered getting tattooed on my person (meaning I want it on me forever) is MCR's "Save Yourself (I'll Hold Them Back)" Lyrics: "You're the broken glass in the morning light/be a burning star if it takes all night"
Lately I also love the verse from DeadMau5 and Gerard Way's song "Professional Greifers": "Give me the sound to see another world outside that's full of all the broken things that I made"
You want to hear something weird? As I typed the answer to this question, "Save Yourself" came on my MP3 player. It's on shuffle. 0_0
2.
Do you drink coffee? I would not survive life without coffee. So yes. A Lot.
3.
Do you have any pets? Alas, no. We had a kitty but he was adopted earlier this summer. I still get upset about it- I really miss him.
4.
What do you do for fun? I sew, read, write, and craft. :-) And go thrifting!
5.
What is your favorite color? Cerulean
6. Who
do you admire most in your life? I admire my mom, and I really admire my bosses. They are all strong business oriented women who are pretty successful at everything they set out to do and that's inspiring.
7.
Where is your dream vacation destination? Portland, Oregon or Ireland. I guess I don't have dream vacation destinations because I'm so happy to just spend my vacations locked in my house with coffee and a book.
8.
Do you live in the same area as your extended family? No, I live in Philadelphia and my family all lives in Maryland.
9.
Do you like where you live? Most of the time. I'm pretty nomadic at heart though and I would like to move more often than I do. I get itchy feet ;-)
10.
Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert? Introvert. Definitely. Especially if this is the real definition (I found it on google). Because this is me through and through.
Definition: Contrary to what most people think, an introvert is
not simply a person who is shy. In fact, being shy has little to do with
being an introvert! Shyness has an element of apprehension, nervousness
and anxiety, and while an introvert may also be shy, introversion
itself is not shyness. Basically, an introvert is a person who is
energized by being alone and whose energy is drained by being around
other people.
Introverts are more concerned with the inner world of the mind. They
enjoy thinking, exploring their thoughts and feelings. They often avoid
social situations because being around people drains their energy. This
is true even if they have good social skills. After being with people
for any length of time, such as at a party, they need time alone to
"recharge."
And here are my 11 Questions for you guys:
Here are my questions! If you decide to answer them, let me know! I'd love to see what you write.
1. What article of clothing is your must-have for fall?
2. Who is your all-time favorite musician?
3. If you could be a super hero, what would your power(s) be?
4. What is your next craft/DIY project? Anything fun?
5. What are your favorite trends for the next season?
6. Who is your biggest inspiration?
7. Black or blue?
8. What color are your eyes?
9. What is your favorite project you've made so far?
10. What is your favorite food?
11. What are you looking forward to most in the upcoming season (personally, I like Thanksgiving and Christmas!)?
They are the same as the last time I got this award, but since no one answered last time I'm hitting you with them again!
Until next time! xoxo
-Meg

ReplyDeleteHappy weekend ^^

I love your confidence, it's really refreshing and inspires me to pick things out on myself that I love. I also really like the lisette look.
ReplyDeleteI thought you said you were talking to trees, haha! But I'm guessing Trees is a person and not in fact a tree. I wouldn't judge you either way! =]
I REALLY like this top - I think a top like this can make you feel so much more pulled together than a tee shirt! I think your hair is just looking fabulous at the moment:D
ReplyDeleteThis top is really cute! That Lisette pattern works really well for tops too apparently. You look awesome, I'm loving your style so much!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I just answered your questions. :)
Cute top! You pull it off so well... It's funny, because I've been considering making some knit tops/t-shirts because I've gotten sick of the fitted (at least, being so fatigued lately, a soft t-shirt is what I got for in the morning when I ponder my closet... it takes too much energy to dress nice, which is sad because I have a lot of homemade clothes I love).
ReplyDeleteMeg I love how you've used that fantastic pattern to make this beautiful top! More please! I love the cut and fit on you:). Isn't it wonderful when you discover a pattern that you just KNOW will work every time? I have an old 1970s A-line skirt pattern I thrifted years ago and I've used it to make three summer skirts, I just make them shorter than the pattern. It's lovely to learn more about you and I'm sorry your kitty had to go to another home. Portland is on my list of must-visit's too. Big hugs xo
ReplyDeletesince google officially says i follow you, and i occasionally comment, i decided i would do your 11 questions thing with answers. I don't have a blogger though (just the livejournal which has been quite neglected lately), so i hope it's ok to do them here:
ReplyDelete1.leather jacket, maroon scuba-style
2.jon bon jovi (but alanis moorisette is almost a tie...)
3.hm, something akin to time-manipulation where I could change when peopel have plans/i am free so I could hang out with friends more. also distance!!!
4. does making playlists/CD mixes count? sorry, don't really have the skills for a lot...
5.I don't follow whatever is trending, so i don't know what's out there. some things I have seen from VS catalogue woudl be animal print (snake and cheetah), and jewel tones for fall?
6.hm, honestly I would have to say you, dear. seriously, I still wear things you've made and think about what you would like when it comes to certain fashion trends. I don't really have anyone else specific besides some 80s and 60s looks with bohemian/goth/victorian-esque style
7.both? i'll go with black
8. blue
9. again, don't make much, but i did find an awesome shirt at a vintage store that is balck/grey striped, super soft, has flutter sleeves and a gathered back so it looks tunic-length. wore it with purple leggins today.
10. spicy albacore roll sushi...and hot green tea with honey.
11. egg-nog milkshakes and lattes! also peppermint mocha and gingerbread flavors. wish there was a "nutcracker cranberry" for thanksgiving so it would come earlier
Fab hair. And great answers. Nice to learn more about you.
ReplyDeleteLara- Thank you! :-) I can't wait to see your answers!
ReplyDeleteJess- LOL Trees is a person in NZ who comments on my blogs and is a dear friend. You would like her blog, too- Adventures of the Girl from the Naki. She's super cool and always has amazing dresses.
Trees- I was just talking to Jess about you! :-) I do feel more pulled together in these shirts. And I feel more confident in my sewing because reconstructing tees can either be expensive or take SO MANY shirts to make one thing.
Stacey- I think the Lisette pattern just wins all the way around. The only thing I've been unable to make is a baby doll dress, but that could be more because I never have enough fabric for it. I loved your answers to my questions.
GRG- Thank you! I used to love them, but lately I just have so many fit problems. I can't seem to find a fitted tee that is affordable and I can't seem to make them without needing two or three tees! Sigh. I'm tired of everything being too baggy or too tight.
PYSU- Hi honey! Thank you! I love having a go-to pattern that I know I love and can make in so many colors and patterns. I'm in love. :-) I hope to find a go-to skirt pattern because I don't have any skirts right now! UGH Portland looks AMAZING. I need to go there. Or live there. Either is acceptable. :-) We're about to get a hurricane, so it's nice to know my ex-kitty is safe with another family and not on the streets.
Iris- I love how specific you are in style. You know exactly what jacket you're looking for. That's awesome. :-)
Shybiker- Thank you! :-)
