Collections: My Vintage Photo Collection

Hello!

I just wanted to share with you one of my quirky collections. I love to collect vintage photos of people or places. I love looking at these anonymous pics and seeing fashions of the past or beautiful places.

I really wanted a way to display them in my home, and I became inspired by the My Chemical Romance video "Ghost of You". I'd just acquired some WW2 and 1950's style pics, and since the MCR video takes place in the 40's, I got some stills of the video and started playing with them altogether. Here they are laying out on my table all mixed up! The MCR shots are in the upper left-hand corner and the other ones are all vintage. I'm going to do a wall display that mixes my favorite band with my love of vintage photography.

If you read my blog often, you already know I love to collect travel tee shirts. I LOVE cheesy tourist memorabilia. I don't know why! So here are some of my favorite place photos that I've got. The Statue of Liberty and Grauman's Theater (with Jack Lemmon on the marquee!!) are my two favorites. I also got one that I'm not fond of, but I bought because it's nostalgic to me. The top photo is a historic Gettysburg PA plaque. I grew up near there, so when that snapshot came into the shop where I work I knew I had to have it just because it reminded me of my family.

Close Up!
I love Jack Lemmon! And this painted mountain!

Next, I got two pictures of these two  girls standing together. I think they are the same two women. I got them (don't laugh at me) because they reminded me of my fashion blogger friends!! That's right, all of you that pose in your pretty outfits every day. That's who I thought of when I got these two stylish vintage ladies.

Above: Here they are mixed in with my other ladies. I know that the painted picture in the polka dot dress is named Vera and I know she was an amazing artist (because some of her paintings were displayed with this photograph), but that's all I know. I love the little flapper girl on the stairs, too.

Below: My gentlemen! And yes, that geisha is a man. I've stared at that photo over and over. It's a dude. That's why I love him. I really loved the picture of the pilots, and someone drew a marker bikini top over the naked girl on the plane. I think that's so funny! The "ghost" picture is double exposed so the two men fighting in the picture are transparent and look very ghostly. I love it!

If only you could see his manly hands.
I'm painting these frames a neutral color so I can frame a few of these photos and then put the rest on the wall with clips. It's going to look awesome! I can't wait to show you.

I went to the St Pauls Rummage Sale today, which long time readers of my blog like Stacey, Trees and Terri will all know is like my Christmas! I get so much awesome stuff to craft there and I look forward to it every year. I'm going to go- I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
